The standard advice on PR pitching goes something like this:
1) Make sure your story is “real news.”
2) Don’t mass pitch; don’t mass distribute news releases.
Isn’t that contradictory advice? Shouldn’t “real news” be distributed to all RELEVANT news sources at the same time? If it’s an industry-focused news story like a product introduction, shouldn’t all industry journals get the same story at the same time? If it’s a local news story, shouldn’t it be distributed to all local media at the same time?
